Hydro Data Files

HydroPLOT reads in two types of HELIOS simulation results files:

• NetCDF-formatted files (*.exo)
• A binary-formatted file (*.bpf) the was employed in early versions of HELIOS.

The NetCDF-formatted files are unstructured and provide for better efficiency and flexibility. These files contain more data that support the most up-to-date changes in HELIOS.

HydroPLOT Workspace Files

Plots displayed by HydroPLOT can be saved in a HydroPLOT workspace file, which can later be read in.

A HydroPLOT workspace file (*.hyw) contains data (plot settings and graph data) for all open plot windows, as well as the name and path of the HELIOS simulation results file.

When opening a workspace file, all the plot windows will be restored to the state they were in when the workspace was saved. If the HELIOS plot file cannot be found, the user will be prompted to browse for it.

To save a workspace, select one of the following menu items in the HydroPLOT main window:

• File | Save Workspace
• File | Save Workspace As... to save a current workspace with a different name.

To open a workspace:

• Double-click on the workspace file (*.hyw).
• Select File | Open Workspace

To open a new hydro data file, select the File | Open Hydro Data File menu item.
