The PCS-QEOS widget is used to specify whether QEOS modeling should be included and to specify the parameters for it. This modeling is applicable to very high density (near solid density) plasmas.
To include the effects of QEOS, check the Use PCS-QEOS box.
If the effects of QEOS are included, extra points are added to the density grid for the EOS calculation around the value of the specified Solid Density. The number of extra points is the value entered in the # extra density points box. It must be an odd number to ensure that there is a point at the solid density value. The range over which the points are added is determined by the value entered in the Ratio (max. density)/(solid density) box. The points start at a value = (solid density)/ratio and extend up to a value = (solid density) * ratio. The points are more concentrated close to the solid density value.
Values for the Solid Density (in g/cm3) and Bulk Modulus (in GPa) are required. For convenience, a table is provided giving solid density and bulk modulus values. The values for the bulk modulus were taken from various sources on the Internet, primarily www.webelements.com. Please note that for many elements and mixtures, the accuracy of these values is uncertain.
