Data tables are sometimes used to specify input data, such as the temperature and time values for a time-dependent external radiation source. In this case, two-column data tables are used when entering values for the 1-T radiation model, while three-column tables are used when utilizing a 2-T radiation model.
When data entries are time-dependent, quantities at a given SPECT3D simulation time are interpolated from the table values. If a simulation time is outside of the bounds of the table times, SPECT3D uses the value at the nearest table boundary.
Tables can be populated using any of the following approaches:
- Entering data directly into the table
- Setting "x"-column values for linear or logarithmic grids
- Importing data from a multi-column ascii file
A grid of "X" (e.g., time) values can be conveniently set up via the Set X Grid button. Using this, a grid of either linearly or logarithmically spaced values are added to the table.
To import data from a multi-column ascii file, select File | Import Data. Table data can also be written to a file by selecting File | Export Data.
The Edit menu provides capability for:
- Inserting and deleting rows
- Copying, pasting, and clearing selected portions of the table
- Clearing the entire table
The Plot | Table Data command will show a plot of the table data.
