Example: Al K-shell absorption spectra

Setting up the Materials

Click on the Materials button or on the Next button on the Plasma page.

Add the two materials in the sample:

1) Al.

• Click on the New material... button:
  • Change the Material Name to Al.
  • Leave the Opaque emitter box unchecked.
• Select VOL_FRACTION_02 from the HydroVariable combo box.
• Enter the Mean atomic weight of 27.
• Material Type :
  • Leave the default selection of DCA (detailed atomic modeling).
  • Click on the Add button and click on Al on the periodic table.
  • Leave the default number fraction of 1.0.

    

2) Plastic.

• Click on the New material... button:
  • Change the Material Name to CH.
  • Leave the Opaque emitter box unchecked.
• Select VOL_FRACTION_01 from the HydroVariable combo box.
• Enter the Mean atomic weight of 6.5.
• Material Type:
  • Change model to Non-DCA (table lookup).
  • Select Custom and browse to the CH.prp tabulated opacity file from the Examples -> Spect3D_data directory as shown.
