Sample Problem: NIF Unconverted Light in 3ω Focus
Plane
Setting Up the Grid
Perform the following steps to set up a rectangle at target chamber center,
pointed at the Q15T NIF Quad:
- Select Target | Add Object.
- Select "Rectangle" for the target component type.
- Set the object name to "Rectangle".
- In the Position tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- For the Reference Coordinate System, use "Target Chamber".
- Use the default object position: r = (0,0,0). That is, put the
centroid of the rectangle at target chamber center.
- Find the port locations for the Q15T beams:
- View the laser port positions by selecting View | Port Positions.
- The ports for the Q15T quad is centered at: polar = 23.5 degrees;
azimuthal = 78.75 degrees.
- Enter the angles for the polar and azimuthal orientation
angles (23.5 and 78.75 degrees, respectively).
- In the Size/Gridding tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- Set the X length to 3 cm.
- Set the Y length to 6 cm.
- Use 60 grid points in the X-direction..
- Use 80 grid points in the Y-direction.
- Select "OK". (The rectangle is added to the graph frame.)
