Sample Problem: Time-Dependent Z-Pinch Hohlraum
Setting Up the Grid: Top / Bottom Plates and Outer Disk
To set up the top and bottom plates of the hohlraum:
- Select Target | Add Object (or push the Add Object tool button).
- Select "Disk" for the target component type.
- Set the object name to "Top_Plate".
- In the Position tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- For the Reference Coordinate System, use "Target Chamber".
- Set the object position to: r = (0, 0, 0.5).
- Use the default orientation angles (all angles zero).
- In the Size/Gridding tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- Set the outer radius to 1.4 cm.
- Set the inner radius to 0.0 cm.
- Set surface normals down.
- Use 5 grid points in the radial direction.
- Set the number of azimuthal grid points to 12 (30 degrees per node).
- Select "OK".
- The plates are added in the graphics window.
Repeat the above steps for the "Bottom_Plate", with the following
differences:
- In the Position tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- Set the object position to: r = (0, 0, -0.5).
- In the Size/Gridding tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- Set surface normals up.
- Set the outer radius to 1.0 cm (this leaves a 0.4 cm gap).
For the outer disk, repeat the steps for the "Bottom_Plate", with
the following differences:
- In the Size/Gridding tab of the Object Parameters Dialog:
- Set surface normals up.
- Set the inner radius to 1.4 cm.
- Set the outer radius to 7.0 cm.
- Set the number of azimuthal grid points to 36(10 degrees per node).
