For NIF laser beams, 1ω (1.05 μm), 2 ω (0.53 μm), and 3ω (0.35 μm) laser light enters the target chamber. In VISRAD, NIF beams are modeled using 3 cones:
The 3 cones focus to different points [see, e.g., Refs. 1 & 2]. When pointing NIF beams using VISRAD, the pointing refers to the BLUE cone. The focus points for the RED and GREEN cones are determined from the BLUE cone focus and the NIF optics constraints.
