PROPACEOS is the Prism Opacity and Equation of State application and library. It is built upon algorithms of the SPECT3D spectral analysis code and data from the ATBASE suite of atomic structure and cross section codes.
The PROPACEOS code generates multigroup opacities and equation of state data for single elements and mixtures. PROPACEOS Opacity/EOS data files that can be used in HELIOS simulations are distributed directly by Prism Computational Sciences. Contact Prism for information on how to obtain files for specific materials.
Users can specify the location of the directory holding the PROPACEOS files by selecting Edit | Preferences. The file to be used for a particular material is specified in the EOS tab of the Spatial Grid setup widget.
PROPACEOS opacities include effects of bound-bound, free-free, and bound-free transitions. Bound-free cross sections and bound-bound oscillator strengths are generally based on Hartree-Fock calculations.
