SpectraPLOT: Transitions Table

A list of atomic transitions included in a SPECT3D run can be displayed to facilitate determining which bound-bound transitions contribute to a spectrum.

To view a table, select the SPECT3D run name in the Run Names List, and select the View | Transitions Table menu item in the Main Window.

The table lists all bound-bound transitions included in the SPECT3D simulation. For each transition the following items are displayed:

To change between viewing Photon Energies and Wavelengths, right-click on the column's header, and select the Show As Wavelengths/Photon Energies menu item.

Because there are potentially a very large number of transitions in a SPECT3D calculations, several options for filtering the transitions table are supported.

After setting the filters, click the Update button to apply the filtering.

Note that the filters will be applied only if the Filter box in the upper-left corner of the Filter Transition Table Data panel is checked.

In the Transition Table, the right-click menu provides several options to facilitate generating gridlines and labels. Right-clicking on the Gridline or Label header provides menus for checking or clearing all boxes in that column. Right-clicking after selecting one or more transitions provides options to check or clear boxes. In the case of labels, there are also menu items to show/hide individual labels, and regenerate, delete, and reset the position of individual labels.

When clicking on either a gridline or a transition label in the graph, the corresponding transition is highlighted in the table.

For labels, new strings are generated when pressing the Add Labels button. For checked transitions with existing labels, strings remain unchanged.

The characteristics of newly generated strings for transition labels can be controlled by setting parameters in the Transition String Properties dialog. To do this, press the Edit Labeling Params button at the top of the Transitions Table. Parameters used to generate transition labels are:

To immediately apply the string settings of all transitions that are selected in the Transitions Table to the Spectra Viewer, click on either the Regenerate Labels or Reset Positions button. Alternatively, transition strings can be updated by selecting transitions in the Transitions Table, and right-clicking to select items under the Labels menu.

Once generated, the properties of individual labels can be edited by double-click on the label.
