Detector Setup: Point Projection

For Point Projection, the rays emanating from each of the pixels in the detector grid and passing through the plasma converge to a single point (or small volume). The Point Projection viewing model is typically used in cases where small backlighter sources are utilized.

A schematic illustration of the Point Projection viewing model for a rectangular detector is shown below.

When specifying Point Projection, the center of the detector points to the Backlighter Position.

The radiation flux at a given point on the detector depends on the solid angle to the plasma (as viewed from the detector) and the solid angle to the backlighter. The blue and red lines in the figure indicate the solid angles to the plasma and backlighter, respectively.
