Import and Export Data
Import Data: Data can be imported by selecting
the menu item File | Import Data... either from the File menu on the menu bar
or the file menu available by right clicking on a graph.
- Data can be imported from any ASCII file that has at least two consecutive lines of
data that contain two or more numbers.
- The first column will be used as the X data.
- The imported data will be split into separate datasets if there are any
breaks between lines - blank lines or lines not containing two or more numbers.
- The default name of the dataset will be the name of the file.
- After import, the Datasets dialog will be displayed, showing the added dataset(s).
- You can now make plots
with the new data, or view and edit it.
Export Data:
- To export data from the plots, select the menu item File | Save Plot Data...
either from the File menu on the menu bar or the File menu available by right
clicking on a graph.
- For a line graph, a list of all the plots in the current graph is shown.
- Select the plot data to save. If multiple plots are selected, the default
is to save all the data in one file. If the 'Save to separate files' box
is checked, the data from each selected plot will be saved to a separate
file.
- Click on the 'Save' button to bring up the standard Save File dialog.
The file is saved with the extension .ppd.
- For a regular contour plot, the current plot can be saved as:
- an ASCII file
- a tecplot file
- a comma separated list suitable for a spreadsheet application such
as Excel.
