Surface Element Flux Files

When running a VISRAD simulation, it is possible to write to a file the time-dependent incident spectrum onto any surface element in the grid. There is one output file per selected surface element. This is useful for supplying input to other plasma simulation codes, such as HELIOS.

Selecting surface elements is done when configuring simulation parameters.

Contents of the file include: the selected object and surface element index, and for each simulation time:

• simulation time
• total frequency-integrated flux
• equivalent drive (blackbody) temperature
• frequency-, time-, and angle-dependent flux onto the surface element
