SESAME Equation of State Files

The SESAME equation of state (EOS) data files used in HELIOS simulations contain data for one material only. These files have been generated by extracting EOS tables from the main SESAME data library.

At present, HELIOS requires that the tables contain separate electron and ion energies and pressures (303 and 304 tables) or table 301 containing total energy and pressure.

The SESAME EOS data files that can be used in HELIOS simulations are not distributed directly by Prism Computational Sciences. Instead, users must obtain the HELIOS-formatted data files from Los Alamos National Laboratories. Contact Prism for information on how to obtain the files.

Users can specify the location of the directory holding the SESAME files by selecting Edit | Preferences. The file to be used for a particular material is specified in the EOS tab of the Spatial Grid setup widget.
