Target Positioning Viewers

Target Positioning Viewers are provided for the following target chambers:

• OMEGA and OMEGA-EP X-TVS/Y-TVS Viewer (2 views)
• NIF Target Alignment System (TAS) Viewer (4 views)
• LMJ Target Alignment System (TAS) Viewer (6 views)
• ORION X-TVS/Y-TVS Viewer (2 views)

The Target Position Viewers display views from specific camera angles used for target alignment for each of the chambers.

The viewers also support specifying and displaying the location of reticles.  For information on the use of reticles, see adding and editing reticles

By default, the viewers show only the Target Components. To show the Chamber Components, select the Show | Chamber Components menu item.

To view the Target Positioning Viewer, select the View | [X-TVS/Y-TVS, NIF TAS, or LMJ TAS] Viewer menu item.  This can also be done by selecting the Show [X-TVS/Y-TVS, NIF TAS, or LMJ TAS] Viewer button () on the Main Window Toolbar.

Tool buttons at the top of the Target Positioning Viewer are used to control mouse behavior and target component information.

• Standard mouse pointer.
• Shows the Key Points (i.e., key locations on target components), and sets the mouse mode for picking key points.
• Shows the reticles, and sets the mouse mode for controlling reticles (e.g., moving, changing size)
• Toggles visibility of rulers and gridlines.
• Sets mouse mode for translation of views. Right-click resets translation parameters to zero.
• Displays the positions of Key Points for each of the target components.
• Sets mouse mode for measuring distances
  • To measure a distance, select the button and position the mouse at a starting point and click. A line appears and follows the cursor until the mouse is clicked again. The distance is shown in a box located near the top of the viewer.
• Sets mouse mode for measuring angles
  • To measurie an angle, select the button and click the mouse at two points to provide a reference line. The reference line is then shown, as is a second line extending to the cursor. The angle is shown in a box located near the top of the viewer.

The following menu features are supported in the Target Positioning Viewers:

  • Print All (X-TVS/Y-TVS Viewer only; prints composite of X-TVS view, Y-TVS view, and reticle data)

  • Edit Lighting System; sets parameters for the lighting systems for all views

  • Show Chamber Components
  • Show Rulers / Grid Lines
  • Show Field of View (NIF TAS Viewer only)
• Set menu
  • Set Color / Lighting (optional grayscale for X-TVS/Y-TVS Viewer only)
  • Set Ruler Properties
  • Set Key Points Size

Options for the exported image size an any view include: original size, custom number of pixels, and percentage of original size.

When using the Export All menu item, all views are exported to image files with one operation. The user specifies the image size (which is applied to all images), and the base file name. Each view name is then applied to base file name (e.g., for a base name of "test", the OMEGA TVS view file names are "test_X-TVS.jpg" and "test_Y-TVS.jpg").
